A PATNA man called a woman a ‘w***e’ after she spurned his advances – then smeared blood on her face before hitting her and threatening to kill her.

Alan McConnell, 41, admitted assault and threatening abusive behaviour during the incident at his address in Rooney Court on August 20.

When he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court last week, procurator fiscal depute Chris Munro said: “The accused and witness were in a relationship for six months, they did not reside together.

“On Friday, August 19 both were consuming alcohol together in a pub then left.

“At the address the accused suggested she come upstairs to get a ‘s**g’ . She said she didn’t want to and wasn’t ‘a w***e’.

“The accused became aggressive and called her a ‘w****e’.”

Neighbours were awoken at around 2am to sounds of shouting and banging – before the woman left via the window.

Mr Munro continued: “Another witness, also awoken by shouts for help, saw the witness and accused on a footpath. He was holding the witness, pushing and pulling her.

“The accused then returned to the property and the witness remained outside. Police observed the witness distressed and crying.”

Mr Munro then said that during a phone call between the pair the following day McConnell began shouting and swearing before stating “I’ll f*****g kill you”.

John Gallagher, defending, said: “He was disgusted with his behaviour.”

McConnell was put on a community payback order with 12 months’ supervision and 150 hours of unpaid work as a direct alternative to prison.
