PEOPLE and businesses in and around Ayr have been asked for their help organising a wedding for a woman diagnosed with cancer.

And an appeal on social media by the 'Wedding Wish Makers' organisation has sparked a fantastic response.

The Wedding Wish Makers (WWM) page on Facebook published their appeal on Thursday and have attracted hundreds of responses from people and businesses eager to help.

The WWM team said in their appeal: "Bride-to-be Keira has been diagnosed with extensive small cell lung cancer, and is looking to marry her long term partner Andrew who is the father of her two daughters within the next few weeks.

"The couple are looking for a small intimate wedding for around 30-40 people."

In particular the WWM team asked for help providing the couple with the following:

  • Venue in Ayrshire for the ceremony and meal followed by evening reception
  • Wedding dress and shoes for the bride. Dress size 10-12, shoe size 5
  • Dresses for five bridesmaids, ideally silver as the couple are going for a winter theme
  • Kilt for groom and best man
  • Rings
  • Wedding cake
  • Celebrant
  • Photographer
  • Videographer
  • Decor - winter theme
  • Hair and make-up
  • And anything else to give this couple the most special memories

Suplier or venue owners near Ayr and who wish to help are being asked to send a message to https://www.facebook.com/weddingwishmakers

A Go Fund Me page has also been set up to try to help with any costs - and has so far raised £400 towards a target of £2,000.
