A YELLOW weather warning has been issued for some parts of South Ayrshire.

The Met Office wind warning will cover the south-west parts of South Ayrshire including Maybole and Girvan.

The warning will stay in place until 7am and 9pm today, and has been described as "A spell of very windy weather will affect Irish Sea coastal areas, before spreading to parts of northern England and Scotland."

What to expect: 

  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
  • Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
  • It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
