A woman has died after a serious road crash on the A70 between Ayr and Coylton today (Friday, October 28).
Emergency services were called to reports of an accident involving a car and van this morning at around 5.55am.
The road was closed for a number of hours while emergency service attended.
However, sadly a 46-year-old woman, the driver of the van, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A male driver of the car was taken to Queen Elizabeth University hospital in Glasgow.
The female passenger of the van was taken to Crosshouse Hospital.
The road has now fully reopened following full collision investigation work.
