AN Ayrshire MSP is branding the SNP’s ownership of ScotRail a ‘shambles’ after it data revealed that over half of trains do not arrive at Girvan Station on time, and over a quarter of trains do not arrive at Ayr Train Station on time.

Scottish Conservative MSP Sharon Dowey is calling out the SNP on its mismanagement of ScotRail and urges them to put their new power over Scotland’s railway network to good use.

Commenting, Ms Dowey said: “It’s extremely disappointing to see that almost a quarter of trains are not arriving at Ayr Train Station on time.

"As if that’s not bad enough, less than half of all trains arriving at Girvan Train Station make it on time.

“Passengers rely on ScotRail for their commute, and they’re seriously being let down by this service.

"Can we really say that public transport is a viable option for those in Ayr, Girvan and the surrounding areas when the trains don’t show up on time?

“Considering the SNP’s track record on transport, I had my concerns when they took ScotRail into their control.

"As I expected, the SNP are mismanaging ScotRail and it’s the passengers who are being let down.

“I’ll be reaching out to the Transport Minister on this issue, to see what improvements will be made in the immediate future to reduce delays”.

The Scottish Government have been contacted for comment.
