ROADWORKS will take place in Girvan early in October and are expected to last for over a week, leaving residents without vehicle access to their homes.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential maintenance on the A77 in Girvan at Vicarton Street between ASDA and Bridgemill Roundabout, and on the roundabout itself.

Work will take place from Monday, October 3 until Wednesday, October 12 between the hours of 8pm and 6am, each night.

The scheme allegedly has a value of £324,591 and according to Amey, will benefit around 8,194 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

However, residents within the closure extents will have no vehicular access to their properties during the closure periods and are advised to make alternative parking arrangements if required.

The work will be carried out using a combination of overnight total road closures at this location and working under temporary traffic signals.

On Monday 3, Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 of October there will be a full road closure between ASDA and Bridgemill Roundabout between 8pm and 6am each night.

Traffic will be diverted via Coalpots Road and the B734.

There will be no vehicular access to the football club or the train station.

Access to ASDA will be maintained from Girvan town centre.

This section of works will be complete at 6am on Thursday October 6.

Works will commence at Bridgemill Roundabout from Thursday, October 6 with temporary traffic signals in operation between 8pm and 6am each night.

Traffic management will be removed at 6am on Wednesday, October 12.

During this period, the exit for the B734 will be closed in both directions with the above diversion via Coalpots Road in operation.

From 9am on Monday, October 3 until 6am on Thursday, October 6 parking will be suspended at the bays between ASDA and Bridgemill Roundabout.

Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Full access will be maintained to Girvan Community Hospital during the works.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
