A new band made up of local musicians will be headlining the Ayr Jazz Club’s next concert.

Mike Daly & His Gentlemen of Jazz will be playing The Fairfield Hotel on September 2 at 7.30pm.

The band was formed on short notice due to the former headliners, Brian Carrick and His Heritage Hall Stompers, being unable to perform.

Titular Mike Daly’s Gentlemen of Jazz band consists of banjo player Kit Carey, bassist Graham Blamire, trombonist Herbie Hudson, Chris Perrin on reeds, and Scott Adair on drums.

A representative from the club said: “Sadly, due to Brian's continued health situation, he is unable to fulfil this fixture. We wish him well for the future.

“Finding replacement ready-made bands at short notice is becoming extremely difficult so as a club we have adopted Plan B - if you can't find one, make one!

“If you have an interest in jazz, do come along and help us to keep ‘Bringing Jazz To Ayrshire’.”

Specialising in New Orleans, Dixieland, and Traditional Jazz, the club is always open to new members and visitors.

Signing up to the club’s Supporters Card Scheme will give you the opportunity to join members at The Fairfield on the last Sunday of each month for a discounted ‘jazz lunch’.

Tickets to the upcoming concert cost £10 and can be bought at the door.
