Police are appealing for information after a pensioner was killed in a crash in Prestwick.

The incident took place this morning, September 9, on the town's Ayr Road.

Emergency crews saw to the man after he was struck by a lorry, however he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A report will now be submitted to the procurator fiscal following the crash.

Sergeant Scott Gourlay from the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Irvine said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.

“We are carrying out enquiries into the cause of this crash and we are appealing to any witnesses or anyone who has any information that may assist us."
