Police are appealing for information following an incident of wilful fire raising in Ayr. 

Officers were called to Lewis Gardens, Ayr around 2am on Sunday, August 28 following a report of two cars on fire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire safely. There were no reports of any injuries. 

Police say two male suspects, believed to be in their 20s, left the scene in the direction of Dunure Road.

Detective Constable Stuart McCulloch said: “Thankfully no-one was injured as a result of this incident, although two vehicles were extensively damaged and a property sustained external damage. 

“Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information which may assist us to get in touch.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time to check dashcam footage and contact us.”
