AN Ayr restaurant is among the 60+ establishments shortlisted for this year’s Asian Restaurant Awards (Scotland).

The list covers some of the best loved Asian, Chinese, Japanese, and Nepalese restaurants and takeaways from across the Highlands, North East and Central Belt of Scotland.

The 6th annual Asian Restaurants Awards (Scotland) were launched at The Scottish Parliament on Wednesday, June 29

And Ayr diner, the Curry Leaf, which is situated on Wills Road, has been shortlisted as a contender in the Just Eat best takeaway/delivery category.

The restaurant has already been labelled "The best takeaway in Scotland" after scooping two prizes in July's Scottish Takeaway Awards, bagging the South West version of the Curry Takeaway of the Year, but also the overall prize for the whole of Scotland.

The establishment will be visited by a panel of judges from the ACF who will determine the winners for both national and regional award categories at the Asian Restaurant Awards finals in September.

Scottish winners will also be included in the ACF’s new ‘One Hundred Top Curry Restaurants’ guide, which is being published currently, region–by–region across the UK, at www.Top100curryRestaurants.co.uk.

ACF Chairman Yawar Khan said: “We congratulate all the West of Scotland establishments in making this year’s short-list for the sixth annual Asian Restaurant Awards (Scotland), an event which showcases some of the best dining establishments from across the nation.

"We look forward to unveiling the winners at our awards finals event in Edinburgh next month.

“Asian restaurants, which contribute £5bn to the economy and employ more than 100,000 people across the UK, are a key feature of Scotland’s food and cultural landscape.

"At a time when the sector is facing significant challenges with rising food and energy prices along with staff shortages, it’s important we acknowledge excellence and celebrate the success of the sector.”

The winners will be announced at this year’s Asian Restaurant Awards (Scotland) finals event, which is being staged on September 19 at the Sheraton Grand in Edinburgh.
