A MAN has been treated in hospital after a three-car crash in Ayr.

The incident happened between Sandyford Road and the Whitletts roundabout at around 11.30am today (Thursday, August 11).

The road was closed for around half an hour, with eye-witnesses reporting long tailbacks for up to two hours after the crash happened.

No serious injuries were reported.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Advertiser: “At around 11.30am on Thursday, 11 August, 2022, we were called to a report of a three-car crash on the A77 between the Sandyford Road and Whitletts roundabouts.

“One man made his own way to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment. There are no reports of any other injuries.

“The road was closed for around half an hour.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
