Police are advising the public to avoid River Street in Ayr, after a person was found "with serious injuries".

Officers were called to an incident in the street near the town centre, at around 11.50am this morning, August 9.

The road has been closed for the time being, though Ayrshire police have stated "there is no risk to the wider public".

However, cops have asked people to avoid the area.

There are no further details at this time as to how the person found on River Street came to their injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Emergency services are currently on River Street in Ayr after a person was found with serious injuries.

"Officers were called around 11.50am and the road has been closed meantime.

"There is no risk to the wider public but we would ask people to avoid the area."
