An extension to Coylton Primary School has been given the go ahead.
Planners approved proposals to relocate the existing main entrance to where the central fire exit point currently sits.
The application states: “A new secure lobby will be formed off the entrance using the existing corridor and a new reception point formed to link with the admin space adjacent.
“Externally, a new entrance concourse will be provided and will include a canopy shelter, new steps and a ramp. This will improve arrival to the
building and the management of visitors for school staff.”
In its report, South Ayrshire Council planners state: “Overall, the proposed works are considered to be relatively minor in scale and a sufficient distance from any neighbouring residential properties that they shall not result in any detrimental impact on the amenity of these properties.
“All relevant matters have been taken into consideration in determining this application. It is recommended that the application is approved subject to conditions.”
In May 2016, there was work to reconfigure Coylton Primary took place, transforming two classrooms, pupil toilets, one office, a pupil support room
and one cupboard into two new Early Years Centre playrooms, toilets and a new meeting room.
The previous Early Years Centre is now being used as a classroom.
