THERE has been a second high-value housebreaking in Troon where jewellery has been stolen, police have confirmed.

Between Friday, July 15 and Wednesday, July 20, a house in Sarazen Drive was broken into and a quantity of jewellery, worth a five-figure sum, was stolen.

Detective sergeant Craig Gilmour, South Ayrshire CID, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing at the moment and whilst at this time we cannot confirm this housebreaking and the one on Southwood Road recently are linked, we also cannot rule that possibility out as the circumstances are very similar.

“Again on this occasion, the thieves have broken into the house whilst the owners were away.

"We believe that the suspects know what they are looking for and it appears that valuable jewellery is what they want.

“I am again appealing to anyone, particularly drivers with dash-cam footage, who were in the area of Sarazen Drive or Bentinck Crescent over these days who may have seen any suspicious activity to get in touch with police.

"Please call officers via 101 quoting reference number 1717 of Wednesday, 20 July, 2022 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"High visibility officers are patrolling the area and we would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to them or contact their local community policing officer.

"We also have home security guidance on the Police Scotland website - scotland.police.uk/advice-and-information/your-home/your-house/."

The Advertiser reported earlier this week that thieves targeted a house in Southwood Road between 2.15pm on July 15 and 6.45pm on July 17, stealing a quantity of jewellery, including diamond earrings and an Omega watch.
