Prestwick Airport is playing host to a military aviation exercise this week.

From today (July 18) until Friday (July 22), up to eight helicopters, including Chinooks, Merlins and Wildcats, will be involved in the exercise.

In order to meet all training objectives, crews will be required to make a number of early morning flights.

This could be set to last until the early hours of Thursday morning.

Aircraft routing in and out of Glasgow Prestwick Airport has been planned to minimise disruption as far as possible.

Glasgow Prestwick Airport say that the "continued support of the local community is very much appreciated during this essential training."
