A motorcyclist who died following a fatal crash with a tractor has been named by police.

Jamie Boyd, 30, from Dailly, was the rider of a black Suzuki SV 650 motorcycle which was involved in a collision with a yellow JCB 4220 tractor at Hamilton Bridge near Dailly around 7.35am on Monday, July 11.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor was uninjured.

The road was closed for around six hours to allow for a collision investigation to be carried out and re-opened at around 1.30pm.

Sergeant Kenneth Malaney, of Police Scotland’s road policing unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this very difficult time.

“I would ask anyone who saw the vehicles immediately prior to the crash to come forward.

"I would also ask anyone who with dash-cam footage who was in the area around the time of the crash to check their footage and provide anything relevant to us as soon as possible.

Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 0649 of 11 July.
