Data has revealed that the petrol price rise in South Ayrshire is one of the lowest in the country.

Admiral Car Insurance has analysed where fuel prices have increased the most in Scotland in the last two months, as well as breaking it down by the most expensive compared to average salaries.

Of the Scottish areas analysed, South Ayrshire ranks joint-fifth for places where the price of fuel per litre has increased the least.

The average petrol price has gone from £1.59 in April, to £1.80 earlier this month.This represents a £0.21 increase (13%).

Aberdeenshire has seen the biggest increase in this time, with a 16.1 per cent jump since April.

Admiral also estimated how much money would be spent on petrol per £1,000 earned by looking at the average petrol prices and the median hourly salary data for each local authority district in Scotland (2021) from the Office of National Statistics.

South Ayrshire was again on the lower end of the scale for Scotland, with people spending average of £38.90 per £1,000 earned on their salary.

South Ayrshire’s average price per litre of £1.80 also ranked relatively low.
