The Ayr Golf Week Championship is underway with golfers teeing off with the chance to win multiple competitions over the next week winning The Tam O’Shanter, Handyside and Robert Burns trophies.

The 36 hole qualifier kicked off on Monday morning at Belleisle with the second of the 18 holes being played at Seafield on Tuesday. Belleisle will then play host to the Matchplay Knockout section of the tournament which will last from Thursday until Sunday.

The competition is split into three separate classes with class 1 being scratch to 8 handicap, class 2 is 9-18 and class 3 being 19-28.

With the delightful weather over the weekend organisers and amateur golfers alike will be hoping the conditions remain throughout the week and avoid any delays in the competitions with Golf South Ayrshire saying: “It’s great to be back and we wish you all good luck. Hopefully we will see some good weather conditions for the week.”

The Ladies Tri-Am took place at Seafield on Monday with the Brown Memorial Strokeplay competition taking place at Belleisle on Tuesday with the Greensomes returning to Seafield on Wednesday for the ladies to battle it out in their final event of Ayr’s golf week.
