Golfers in Ayrshire are preparing to take part in Ayr Golf Week as it returns for the first time since the start of the pandemic.

Spaces to play in the prestigious competition, which will be held on Belleisle and Seafield Golf Courses from Monday June 6 and Sunday June 12, are filling up fast.

Over the course of the six day event golfers will have the opportunity to play for exciting prizes and historic trophies.

Councillor Brian Connolly, who is in charge of South Ayrshire’s portfolio for sport and leisure, said: "I’m delighted that Ayr Golf week is taking place again this year. South Ayrshire has a rich golfing history and it’s a fantastic way to encourage the younger generation to take up the sport.

"The tournament is a great opportunity for amateur golfers of different abilities to take on a serious challenge, while playing on two fantastic courses surrounded by our stunning natural scenery.”

Players can compete in ten competitions, including the showcase Tam O’Shanter and Handyside Tournament where participants are in with the chance of winning an incredible £5,000.

Long-standing favourites including the Stableford Competition, the Open Mixed Foursomes, Ladies Tri-am, and the Ladies Open Greensomes will also make a return.
