To celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Carrick History Society is partnering with Maybole Library and South Ayrshire Museums and Galleries to host a special exhibition.
From Monday, May 30 to Monday, June 13 there will be a display in Maybole Library featuring photographs and newspaper articles about The Queen’s visit to the area in 1956.
Attendees will also get the chance to view the Town Hall Visitors Book that the Queen and Prince Philip signed on the day of their visit.
President of the Society, Simon Glendenning, said: “I am thrilled that we have been asked to set up this display. I am also delighted that we will be able to show The Queen and Prince Philip’s signatures in the visitors book.”
He also hinted at something special for visitors to look out for.
“If you come and see it, see if you can spot the cheeky extra signature at the bottom,” he added.
The royal display will be available to view during normal library hours: Monday: 1pm - 7pm; Tuesday 9am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm; Wednesday 9am - 12noon; Thursday 9am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm; Friday 10am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm. Shut on Saturday and Sunday.
