SP Energy Networks are working to fully restore power in Ayr after an unexpected power shortage last night.
Homes in the KA6 and KA7 postcode area were affected at around 9pm last night.
As it was an emergency response, prior warning could not be given to those in the area.
Engineers were working to have all power restored by 7am this morning.

However, due to the complexity of the fault it has not been possible to complete all the repairs required overnight. Most have had power restored and engineers are working to get everyone restored.
It is believed the outage was caused by extensive damage to electrical equipment at a substation in the area.
The SP Energy website will have updates on the shortages, and any tips on how to deal with a power cut in the future.
