A FOOTGOLF player from Ayr was given a call-up to represent the Scottish national side as they took part in a ‘four nations’ tournament last weekend.
Liam Kerr, 25, who plays at FootGolf Kilmarnock, was part of the Scotland side who took part in the tournament alongside English, Welsh and Irish sides.
The four sides faced off against each other once, in a round robin style league, before the top two sides faced off to decide who would win the event overall.
Scotland emerged victorious from both of their day one matches, defeating both England and Ireland 10.5-7.5.
Despite already qualifying, Scotland would still win their final group match with ease against Wales, by a score of 12.5-5.5.
It led to a final against Ireland where Scotland would fall agonisingly short, losing in the cruellest of ways.
After a 9-9 draw overall, the match went to penalty putts, which Ireland would win – crowning them as Four Nations champions.
It was a mixed weekend for Ayr man Kerr who played more doubles matches in the Ryder Cup style format.
He was edged out in the three doubles matches he played but won his only singles match against Wales.
