Whitletts Victoria revealed Gordon Pope as their new manager last week.

The club had been on the lookout for a new boss since the resignation of George Grierson at the start of the month and have now found their man.

The former Auchinleck Talbot star won everything he could as a player in the juniors, including lifting the Scottish Junior Cup four times before his retirement in 2020.

Since then, he has been managing Talbot’s U20 side in the Lowland Development League and is now looking forward to his first job in senior management.

Pope said: “I’m delighted to have been offered the position and this is the ideal job for me in my first managerial role.

“Whitletts is a team that has always given young players a chance to progress and that will still be the case. Having been the manager at Auchinleck under 20’s this season I know just how vital that is for young players to showcase their talents.

“Our immediate goal must be to secure our place in the West of Scotland Football League First Division next season. That will provide a base for us to grow .”
