Whitletts Victoria announced the resignation of manager George Grierson last week.

Grierson and his backroom staff left the club prior to their 3-0 loss to Glasgow University at the weekend.

Speaking to the Advertiser, Grierson said: “There has been a back and forth over the past 18 months with the community club, who have been involved with decisions regarding the development team.

“We had asked for certain things to be in place and the club knew this going into a meeting last week.

“So, it was not out of the blue and basically we did not get the answers we were looking for at the meeting.

“So, unfortunately that was it. It was time for us to go our separate ways.”

In a statement released last week, club spokesman John Dalton said: “The timing of this move is disappointing as well, given that we have half a dozen games remaining this season and very close to securing our place in the West of Scotland Football League First Division next season.

“We are now advertising for the post of manager.

"The club is ambitious and has ambitions to achieve our National Club License with the Scottish FA in the next few years.

"With that in mind we would prefer candidates who currently have or be willing to obtain the appropriate coaching qualifications.”

“Anyone interested in the post should contact Secretary Jim Shields on 07852 747 817 or via e-mail at secretary@whitlettsvictoria.com providing a full C.V.”
