Maybole Juniors Football Club took to Twitter on Friday night as they paid tribute to club secretary William Galloway after he sadly passed away on Friday (January 7).

A club statement read: “It’s with great sadness that today our club secretary William Galloway passed away in Ayr Hospital.

“All at Maybole Juniors send our deepest and condolences to Christine and Chris at this sad time.

“He will be deeply missed by all his family, friends. Rest in peace Billy.”

Fellow Ayrshire sides were quick to add their condolences with Irvine Meadow, Irvine Victoria, Cumnock, Lugar Boswell, Hurlford, Girvan and Dalry among those sending their thoughts out to William’s family.

Others added their messages including what people like William mean to clubs such as Maybole.

One user said: “It’s real people like him who have kept many junior clubs alive during this pandemic. Rest easy sir.”
