CHILDREN and adults alike were left stunned to see Santa driving through town recently in an open-top bus.

The vehicle had been turned into a winter wonderland for one weekend only with Santa and his elves setting up a makeshift grotto, and in the process raising £185 in donations for the children’s charity, Aoife’s Sensory Bus.

At the socially distanced free grotto at the Ayr Stagecoach depot, children told Santa what they want for Christmas before receiving a present.

Fiona Doherty, managing director, Stagecoach West Scotland said: “Christmas is such a wonderful time of year and We’ve had a fantastic time welcoming children from Ayr and Kilmarnock to our specially designed Santa’s Grotto bus.All funds raised from the grotto will go to Aoife’s Sensory bus, a local charity that we are extremely proud to support.”

Aoife’s Sensory Bus provides a unique opportunity for children and young people.

The bus, donated by Stagecoach, has been fitted out with an interactive sensory environment which will be utilised by children and young people in schools and communities in Ayrshire.
