It's another day of travel disruption for commuters as ScotRail have announced trains in Ayrshire will be subject to delays and cancellations for the second day in a row.

The Girvan to Stranraer line has been shut owing to severe weather brought about by Storm Barra.

Customers are advised that train tickets will be accepted on buses in the areas affected.

Yesterday morning the line was also affected by a signalling fault at Kilmarnock which caused multiple cancellations and delays to trains in south and east Ayrshire.

A ScotRail spokesperson confirmed the closure of the line about an hour ago, they said: "There will be NO TRAINS ALL DAY between Stranraer & Girvan due to the forecast extreme weather.

"You can use your tickets on Stagecoach buses 60, 358 & 360 between Stranraer, Girvan, Maybole & Ayr. Other service alternations are in place this afternoon. Check before you travel."
