School pupils in Troon have been subjected to an alleged flasher.

The indecent exposure incident is reported to have happened yesterday, November 23, at around 8.30am.

It is understood that a man in his late 40s to early 50s exposed himself somewhere around the Yorke Road, Golf Crescent and Willockston Road area of the town, which is a popular walking route to the nearby Marr College.

The school alerted parents to the incident, with an email telling kids to report any incidents to the police immediately.

The email added: "School staff, PC Harrower and both plain clothed and uniformed officers continue to monitor the areas around the school grounds to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff.

"Incidents have been reported in the cycle track adjecent to school and around the Yorke Road and Willockston Road areas before school begins at 8.45am.

"The description of the person is white male, late 40s to early 50s, 6ft tall slim athletic build, wearing a black skull cap, black running jacket and black shorts, which are 'Pearl Izumi'-branded and black trainers.

"If anyone has any information that could help with enquiries, then please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0486 of Tuesday, November 23 or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Inspector Ian McColl said: “We received a report of a man indecently exposing himself at Golf Crescent in Troon at around 8.35am on Tuesday.

"Officers are carrying out extra patrols in the area in an effort to reassure the public along with carrying out extensive enquiries in an effort to identify this man. I would ask the public to report anyone in the area acting suspiciously to Police Scotland on 101."
