A teen is in hospital following a serious car crash on the backroad between Minishant and Kirkmichael this morning [Wednesday November 17]
The road was closed for nearly eight hours as emergency services attended the incident that involved a blue Vauxhall Vectra and a blue Ford Kuga at the junction.
The 19-year-old male driver of the Vauxhall suffered serious injuries in the incident.
He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock and subsequently to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.
The 35-year-old male driver of the Ford was uninjured.
The police are now calling for people to get in touch if they witnessed the incident or have access dashcam footage from the Kirkmichael route.
The incident happened on the B7045 at the junction with the B742.
Sergeant Craig Beaver of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances which led to this crash are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have information to get in touch.
“We would be keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage from around the time of the crash on Wednesday morning.
