The team bus of Kilmarnock FC was targeted in an attack last night as the East Ayrshire side left Somerset Park following their 1-0 win over Ayr United.

Kilmarnock edged the game, with a late penalty converted by Oli Shaw in the 88th minute after Fraser Murray was fouled in the box.

And as the victors left the ground after the match, their team bus was attacked in the White City area of town, with an object being put through one of the windows.

Nobody was hurt in the incident but the team and bus driver were said to be left shaken folling the attack.

A Kilmarnock FC spokesperson said: "Thankfully nobody was hurt in this incident but clearly this could have resulted in serious injury to our players and staff.

"We have passed our information on to the police and will assist them with their investigation."

The match was also marred before it even began, by supporters breaking the silence during a one-minute mark of respect for the late Walter Smith.

Ayr United have been approached for comment.
