Four South Ayrshire parks have been recognised for their work in promoting the benefits of parks and green spaces.

Keep Scotland Beautiful has announced that four of South Ayrshire’s parks have been presented with a prestigious Green Flag Award.

Belleisle Park; Rozelle Park and Fullarton Estate have all received this award in the past.

But it is a first for Newton Park, who have been working tirelessly over the past year to make the park an appealing place to visit.

The international Green Flag Award celebrates well maintained parks and greenspaces and recognises their importance for exercise, play and mental wellbeing.

In 2021, a total of 77 parks and green spaces across Scotland have been awarded with a Green Flag Award.

Rozelle is used for a variety of public events and festivals throughout the year. Newton Park is well loved by its local community it has an active and enthusiastic Friends of Newton Park group.

Belleisle Park has history dating back to the 18th century, the estate underwent a number of ownership changes, with each family putting their stamp on the estate.

For Fullarton Estate, in the Summer of 2008 Troon Allotment Society secured a lease from South Ayrshire Council to enable the creation of an allotment facility. There are now well over 80 members with plots.
