AN AYR senior site manager has scooped a prestigious industry award for the 12th time.
Stuart Gillespie, the senior site manager at Mactaggart & Mickel’s Greenan Views development, Doonfoot, was honoured in the National House Building Council Pride in the Job Regional Awards.
He was named Regional Winner for the Medium Builder category and now has amassed 12 NHBC Scottish regional awards which recognise site managers’ dedication and commitment to achieving the highest standards in housebuilding.
Each site manager is assessed across 37 areas, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and quality controls.
Stuart was quick to pay credit to his fellow construction professionals at the Greenan Views development.
Commenting on the award, Stuart said: “It’s a terrific honour to be singled out for praise by the National House Building Council and I’m really proud to have my work recognised for the 12th time with such a prestigious accolade.
“But I have to dedicate my Pride in the Job Award to my colleagues who deserve immense credit for rising to all the challenges that have come our way thick and fast due to Covid-19 over the last year.
“We have all pulled together to overcome a range of obstacles to build new homes that not only we can be proud of but also that Mactaggart & Mickel customers can be proud to call home.”
Stuart joined Glasgow-headquartered Mactaggart & Mickel as an apprentice joiner more than 30 years ago, and has worked his way up to become a senior site manager for the company. His latest accolade means he is in the running to win the overall ‘UK supreme’ award in the medium builder category.
Peter Shepherd, Director at Mactaggart & Mickel, added: “Everyone at Mactaggart & Mickel is immensely proud of Stuart and his 12 regional NHBC awards say it all about his outstanding leadership qualities.
“Stuart epitomises that pursuit of excellence that is at the heart of Mactaggart & Mickel’s approach, but he also has a humility that makes him such an admired colleague throughout the company.”
Stuart now goes forward to compete for the ultimate prize in house building, the Pride in the Job Supreme Awards which will be unveiled at a gala ceremony in London in January 2022.
