A FASHION designer from Ayr has taken a giant leap and launched her own brand in Denmark.

Hannah Sosna lives in Copenhagen and has recently launched a new menswear brand ‘Personal Poetry’.

Now 27, Hannah only really set her sights on being a designer when she hit her 20s, and her friends went off to become dentists.

After moving to Glasgow, her career kicked off after applying to Glasgow Clyde College, and then onto The University of Westminster for Fashion design.

Fashion has always been in her family, as Hannah’s mother used to design coats and jackets when Hannah was younger.

Speaking about her own new designs, Hannah said she is delighted to be able to draw inspiration from her upbringing.

She said: “ I absolutely draw inspiration from Ayrshire– Its the most beautiful place and it was such a wonderful place to grow up.

“I think growing up in Ayr and in Scotland really made me fall in love with textiles. I feel as a Scot especially one that is interested in fashion, you can’t help but love the wools, tartans and checks that we grow up with here. Growing up with the pub carpet for example,

“It’s usually a pretty ugly thick old carpet with some very loud tartan woven throughout. Most people think its pretty horrendous but I absolutely love it. It just screams history and design to me which I love and really get inspired by.

“I’m so excited for everyone to see my collection and ideas. I just hope that it gets people excited about what will come next. Everything is up and available on my website now and new things with come out periodically”.

She continued: “I think any young people that are thinking of doing any kind of creative subject or careers should just go for it.

“I love doing what I do, I feel genuinely lucky to be able to do it. Not everyone can get to do what they love everyday as a job. I am so grateful to have had such a supportive family network that helped me go to London and study and then go to Copenhagen to intern and eventually start my own business”.
