Maybole Juniors manager Carlo Walker said his side were worthy winners as they beat Girvan 2-1 in the South Challenge Cup at the weekend.
The Bole made the short trip to Hamilton Park to take on their derby rivals in the second round of the cup competition. They went into the half time break ahead before Mark Curragh levelled for the hosts.
However, Maybole rallied and grabbed a winner to be in the hat for the third round.
Speaking to the Advertiser this week, Walker said:”It was certainly end to end
with no holds barred that is for sure. There were a few meaty challenges getting flung in, bookings galore and a sending off for Girvan.
“But I felt after they got back into the game in the second half, we were by far the better team that could have and should have scored a few more. We were worthy winners in the end.”
Walker is keen on a good cup run this season for the Bole fans.
The manager continued: “Cup runs are things that make memories, that the fans talk about.
“That is something as a club, we need to go forward and a cup run is great.”
