Ayr could be set for 350 new homes as notification has been given to the council that an application is incoming.

The plans are for the huge development to be built on a 29-hectare piece of land to the south east of the Holmston Roundabout on the town’s outskirts.

The proposal also includes shops, food and drink outlets and offices to the East of the town.

A Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN) has been submitted to South Ayrshire Council by real estate company Iceni Projects on behalf of James Craig Ltd.

The company are seeking planning permission for a “residential development”, with as many as 350 homes, along with class 1 “commercial developments” such as retail and class 2 “professional services” along with class 3 food and drink outlets- as well as office space- along with associated access, landscaping and drainage works.

As part of the application process, Iceni Projects have said that they will make the plans available on a dedicated webpage, which will provide information on how residents can engage with the proposals.

The website, HolmstonOldToll.co.uk will be available from Monday, October 18, say the company.

A spokesperson for Iceni Projects added that residents will be able to participate in a online event prior to official planning permission being sought that will contain details of the proposal.

They said: “In line with Scottish Government Guidance: Covid-19 Emergency and Pre-Application Consultation and Requirements for a Public Event (April 2020), an interactive web-based consultation will be held.

“A dedicated webpage will be created to display information on the project and will provide details on how to engage.

“This will be available to view and access freely from October 18, 2021.

“The website will be accessible at: www.HolmstonOldToll.co.uk.

“A live interactive web-based consultation will also take place on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

“During the live event, members of the design team will be available to answer questions submitted by email or to take phone calls via a dedicated email address and phone number provided on the web page.

“Further details can be found within the PoAN.”

The proposal has been sent to Forehill, Holmston and Masonhill Community Council and Annbank and Coylton Community Council for their consideration.
