With just over 1,000 sponsored ducks involved, there were 10 heats raced, all eagerly and enthusiastically watched by hundreds of pupils who were entertained and encouraged by the energetic Magic Malky, a member of Rotary in Alloway.
At 2pm the Grand Final took place with the 10 heat winning ducks being swept down the course to the excited cheering of the youngsters.
First prize, a £250 travel voucher. generously donated by Travel Counsellors, was won by the duck bought by Diane Buchanan, a teacher from the school with second prize, a beauty voucher donated by Grace - Relax and Unwind, being won by Jim Wilson and third, a bottle of malt whisky donated by depute headteacher Fraser Baird, was won by Ann McLean.
The £1,000 raised by the sponsorship of the Ducks will be matched by Rotary International making a total of just over £2,000 going towards the redevelopment of Doonfoot Primary School’s Communication Base Sensory Garden – a magnificent effort by both the School and Rotary in Alloway.
