Two Ayr-based fitness coaches have topped the podium at a CrossFit competition in Darlington.

Kirstin Kirkland, 26, and Alexa Ferguson, 27, of eeVo Training took the RX same-sex pairs title at the Castle Games.

The duo continued a successful return to post-lockdown competition after winning the same-sex threes with fellow coach Ashley Logan in July.

In a pool of 30 teams, the pair won three out of four events and came second in the other.

Kirstin said: “It was hot competition and we had pressure behind us because we won the last one.

“It was nice to go and have fun and compete again because we’ve not done it in so long.

“We’ve been following a new training programme, so we were excited to go and show off our hard work.”

For Kirstin, the focus now shifts to next month’s Arnold Fitness Games in Birmingham.

She hopes the competition, her first at elite level, could be a big step towards her goal of reaching the sport’s top event – the CrossFit Games.

The coach thanked her sponsor, Stonefield Estate Agent, for their support with her career.

She added: “It’s quite cool because it’s given me the funding to get to these bigger competitions – and maybe even the Games.”
