Girvan manager Matt Maley says he was delighted to pick up a second clean sheet in a row after they beat Lugar Boswell Thistle 5-0 at the weekend.

A hattrick from Mark Curragh and a double from Finn Taylor gave Girvan a comfortable win.

Speaking to the Advertiser this week, Maley said: “It was our second clean sheet in succession which is what we set out to do before the game as we have been scoring goals but we are conceding too many, so we were always chasing matches.

“We brought back Michael Mossie to the club and he

has been solid at the back. It is no coincidence that since we have brought him back we have not conceded any goals.”

Next up for the Seasiders is cup duty when they take on Yoker Athletic in the Second Round of the Scottish Junior Cup this Saturday. And Maley revealed that they are a familiar foe to him.

He said: “Yoker are a club I know quite well. When I was at Troon they actually put us out of the Scottish Junior Cup.

“It will not be an easy game at all and we will need to be on top form just like we were last weekend.”
