The organisers of Nigefest, which was held in memory of Nigel Cochrane who sadly lost his life earlier this year, managed to raise a fabulous £5,424.35 for Whiteleys Retreat.

The event was supported by local bands such as Wildcard, Milestone, The Splinters and Slutcake.

Nigel’s family said: “Nigel sadly passed on February 28, 2021. As we were unable to hold a wake for Nigel, due to COVID restrictions, we wanted to celebrate his life with friends from his interests in local live music and over 40 years with the scouts.

“Many of the local bands wanted to play as a tribute to him. So Nigefest was born. This involved events during the day including live acoustic music for everyone – both young and old, and in the evening we had some of his favourite local bands playing.

“We would like to thank everyone who played, and who came and helped us raise funds.”

A Whiteleys spokesperson said: “We would like to say a massive thank you to the organisers of Nigefest ‘21 who raised a staggering £5,424.35”.
