A 63-year-old motorcyclist has died following a fatal road crash on the A70 between Ayr and Coylton yesterday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on the A70 between Ayr and Coylton, near the entrance to Sundrum at 2.10 pm on Sunday.

The fatal crash closed the road for nine hours while emergency services responded.

The biker collided with a blue Nissan Qashqai, and sadly passed away at the scene.

The driver of the car was not injured.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a collision between a car and motorcycle on the A70 between Ayr and Coylton, near the entrance to Sundrum.

"The collision happened around 2.10 pm on Sunday,  September 5, and the 63-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The driver of the car, a blue Nissan Qashqai, was not injured. The road was closed until 11 pm on Sunday.

“Anyone with information about the crash should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 1937 of 5 September.”
