A 52-year-old man has suffered serious injuries after crashing his motorbike in South Ayrshire, which led to an eight-hour road closure yesterday.

The incident happened on the A719 near Dunure around 6.40pm on Sunday, August 22 when the man's Suzuki motorcycle went out of control and left the road.

He was taken to the University Hospital Ayr for treatment to serious injuries.

The man’s family was made aware and the road was subsequently closed for around eight hours to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Police have now put out a call for information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Sergeant Kevin Blackley of Ayrshire Road Policing said: “We are appealing for anyone who was on the road around the time of the incident to contact us.

“In particular, anyone with a dash cam device is asked to check any images it may have captured and pass on anything which may be of use to us.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3300 of 22 August, 2021.”
