Troon RNLI was launched last night after reports of a fishing vessel with a fire onboard off Ardrossan.
At 6.20 pm last night (Tuesday, July 27), the lifeboat was launched along with Belfast Coastguard, the Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was notified about the incident.
Trent class all-weather lifeboat RNLB Jim Moffat was launched to the scene and on the route made contact with the casualty vessel.
The crew aboard had managed to contain the electrical fire and then made the best speed back to Troon.
The all-weather lifeboat met with the casualty vessel and escorted the vessel back to Troon where it was met by the firefighters and the coastguard team.
With the vessel secured alongside, firefighters were able to access the vessel and confirm the fire had been extinguished.
The lifeboat was then able to return to the berth where it was made ‘ready for service.’
No injuries were believed to be reported on the vessel.
