Police in Ayr are continuing their search for a missing man whose car was found in Turnberry three weeks ago.

Gordon Proctor was last seen in his home area of Netherlee in East Renfrewshire around 11.15am on Tuesday, July 6.

The 65-year-old's white Renault Kadjar car was found in Turnberry and subsequent enquiries and searches have been focused on that area.

A coordinated multi-agency search of the Ayrshire coast has taken place involving lifeboats as far south as Stranraer and Portpatrick and as north as Ardrossan.

Sergeant Claire Walker of Ayr Police Station said: “It has now been three weeks since Gordon was last seen. The family remain extremely concerned for his welfare and urge anyone with information to come forward.

“Extensive search activity has been carried out around the Turnberry area and other police enquiries aimed at tracing him are ongoing.

“It is out of character for him to be out of contact with his family for such a long period of time and we are keeping them informed as our enquiries continue.

“We continue to urge anyone who believes they may have seen Gordon at any time since the early afternoon of Tuesday, July 6 to get in touch as a matter of urgency.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident 2460 of July 6.”

Gordon is described as being 6ft tall and of slim build with short brown hair.

He was wearing a lilac polo shirt, a blue jumper and cream shorts.
