Free lunch bags will be available to collect in Ayr all throughout the Summer holidays.

Smith’s Community Support are offering the bags Monday to Friday between 12 and 2pm at Tsukure Hub on Ayr High Street, with support from Ayr Morrison’s Community champions, Jane Clarke and What’s The Scoop.

The bags are available for anyone, whether it’s a family who might be struggling during the school holidays, or parents who want to go down to the beach for a day.

Smith’s Community Support’s Agnes Smith said: “As you will see from our Facebook page we are a very small group and we are just trying to bring a little happiness to the local community in Ayr after the past 18 months.

“We noticed Barnodos appeal for help to make pack lunches for their trips with people they support and we offered our services but at the same time thought why don’t we do pack lunches for kids in and around the community and what better way as we are based in the Tsukure Hub in Ayr high street.

“We are not asking any embarrassing questions we just want to put a wee smile on kids’ faces.

“Jane Clark at Morrison’s Ayr is supporting us and also What’s the Scoop in George Street.

“Tsukure Hub also kindly lets us use their kitchen to make the sandwiches so it’s all team work and people just wanting to show community spirit .

“We want to say a massive thank you to Jane Clark at Morrisons

in Ayr for their lovely donations for the kids free lunch bags.

“We’re so overwhelmed with everyone’s kindness to help us out.”

An Ayr Morrisons In The Community spokesperson said: “It’s great to be supporting Smith’s Community Support with a donation of items for kids packed lunches.

“These guys have teamed up with Barnardos who are running kids activities during the Summer holidays and providing free kids lunches.

“We will be donating items every week during the holidays and are delighted to be part of this team working together to make a difference in our community.”
