Statistics from the British Heart Foundation have been released showing a range of different factors affecting people’s health in the Ayr constituency.
The stats show that there are around 15,000 people living in the constituency with heart and circulatory diseases, which is part of the almost 700,000 people living with the conditions across Scotland.
Around 15,000 people have been diagnosed with having high blood pressure.
Around 27 per cent of adults in Ayr are classed as being obese, and 15 per cent of adults are believed to smoke in the Ayr constituency.
The BHF shop in Ayr are part of the team working on a solution to halt these figures which have been increasing for a number of years.
Up to £60million is being invested into research at Scottish Universities to tackle the issues causing heart and circulatory diseases.
The stats also show that every 50 minutes in Scotland, an individual is admitted to hospital with a suspected heart attack.
