The Chippy Prestwick will remain closed for "a few months" after a fire broke out at the shop last week.

Fire services attended the scene when an electrical fire caused the takeaway to close.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt in the incident.

Now the shop will remain closed for a few months while repair work is carried out.

A post on their Facebook page read: "Unfortunately a week today The chippy Prestwick had an electrical fire during service.

"Thankfully nobody was hurt but the shop will be closed for a few months due to damage. I would like to thank everyone for there help and kind words I promise we will do everything to get opened as soon as possible and be back stronger and better than before.

"Thank you for your custom over the last year and we hope too see you all back soon in the future. Thanks Stuart and all the staff from The Chippy Prestwick".
