The hunt for a missing 65-year-old man from East Renfrewshire has been extended to the Ayrshire coast after a coordinated search between Police Scotland, Coastguard, and Girvan Lifeboat took place yesterday.

A coordinated multi-agency search of the Ayrshire coast has taken place involving lifeboats as far south as Stranraer and Portpatrick and as north as Ardrossan.

Police are becoming "increasingly concerned" for a missing 65-year-old Glasgow man.

Gordon Proctor disappeared on Tuesday afternoon from East Renfrewshire.

He was last seen in the Netherlee area at 11:15 am on Tuesday, July 6.

It is believed Gordon may have travelled to Ayrshire.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "This is part of a wider search for a man missing from East Renfrewshire called Gordon Proctor.

"Details of the missing person appeal can be found on the Greater Glasgow Facebook page."

A spokesperson for Girvan RNLI said: "At 5.05pm our volunteer crews' pagers were activated once again on a continuation of today's multi-agency search for a missing person.

"Our crew carried out a further search from Girvan to Croy shore and back along with Coastguard Rescue teams from Girvan, Portpatrick, Stranraer, Ballantrae, Ayr, and Ardrossan who were all involved in today's callouts along with Police Scotland.

"Search and Rescue teams stood down at 8.47pm Girvan Lifeboat was made ready for the next service call, once again as this is an ongoing incident no further details will be made available."

It is understood there will be further search activity taking place today.
