Adults in Ayrshire who have not yet had their COVID-19 vaccine and anyone who had a first dose eight weeks ago or more can come forward on a drop-in basis this week.

If you have received a first dose of vaccine more than eight weeks ago (56 days), and have missed your second vaccination appointment, or didn’t receive a notification of your second dose appointment, you can attend on a drop-in basis to have that second dose.

Guidelines now bring the dosing schedule forward from 12 to eight weeks between doses. Almost 270,000 people in Ayrshire have now had at least one dose, say health officials.

These sessions can offer drop-in vaccinations in addition to appointed vaccines. If you have an appointment for any of these clinics please attend as normal.

Drop-in vaccinations are available between 8:30am and 5:30pm at the following clinics:

Thursday July 1

  • Ardrossan Civic Centre

Friday July 2

Saturday July 3

NHS Ayrshire & Arran Director of Public Health Lynne McNiven said: “We want as many people as possible to get the protection offered by the COVID-19 vaccine. Restrictions are now able to ease because of the success of the vaccine programme so far. To keep this momentum going we need to continue rolling up our sleeves when invited, as vaccination is our best route out of this pandemic.

“Coronavirus can be serious at any age, and anyone over 18 is now eligible for their vaccine. Some 16 and 17 year olds are also eligible if they deliver face to face care, are from a shielding household or have an underlying health condition that makes them more vulnerable to the virus.

“It’s also important not to leave the job half done. Having two doses of vaccine is the best, most complete protection against the virus. If you had a first dose earlier in the programme and have not yet come forward for your second dose when invited, please come along to one of these local drop-in opportunities."

She added: “The vaccination programme in Ayrshire has been such a success, thanks to all those who have stepped up for vaccine and the huge number of dedicated staff across the health and social care workforce who are delivering it. Almost 270 thousand local people have now had at least one dose – we want this number to be even higher.”
