A BRAVE young girl who suffered sexual abuse at the hands of a remorseless Cumnock creep has been praised for her courage after taking the stand against the offender.

Connar Templeton, 25, was found guilty of sexually abusing the young girl after trial last week at Ayr Sheriff Court [Wednesday, May 5].

Templeton, of Keir Hardie Hill, was found to have sexually assaulted the girl then aged 13 years after making sexual remarks to her.

He then placed his hand inside her lower clothing and touched her body on January 24 last year.

The victim’s sister has since paid tribute to the girl’s courage after bravely reporting the incident then taking the stand.

Cumnock Chronicle:

She said: “He’s a vile, arrogant, sick, twisted individual and shown absolutely no remorse.

“My little sister is more relieved than anything , but she’s nervous about having to bump into him.

“My mum is the same but she’s glad its all over and my little sister can start to get back to normal.

“She went to my mum and we discussed it with her and she decided she wanted to go to the police because she was scared in case it happened to any other girl.

“After she had spoken to the police it was a long time between then and the trial due to COVID-19 – so naturally she was nervous in case she forgot important details.

“But she did great regardless, she was extremely brave and stood up in court and she told the truth.

“She was offered countless breaks but she refused them because she had waited so long too get it over and done with, but she done it and we are all extremely proud of her!

“She made a stand against Connar Templeton and in her own words she told my mum, ‘I’m nervous but I’m just going to tell the truth, because it’s my body and no one has the right to touch it.’”

Templeton was granted bail and placed on the sex offenders register in the mean time ahead of his sentencing later in the year.
