A vehicle that was stolen from outside the owner's house on Saturday (May 8) turned up the following day after whoever had pinched it decided to abandon it.

And police are investigating as to who the culprit could be.

The investigation into the theft of the Ford Kuga car from outside a house in Merrick Drive in Bellsbank continues.

The vehicle was a Motability vehicle, meaning the owner had exchanged their disability allowance for it.

Whoever stole it, got cold feet, because the vehicle was discovered in Springside on Sunday, May 9.

Police say they are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the car or who has any information about the theft.

Sgt Deans, DVRU, Kilmarnock Police Office said, “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have information in relation to this incident and would urge residents within Springside with CCTV or ring door bells to check their footage and to please contact Police with information that would assist our enquiries.

"We would also urge anyone who was travelling between Bellsbank to Springside on May 9 to check their dash cam footage and contact Police with any information to assist with enquiries.

"Anyone who may have seen anything is also encouraged to get in touch."
